FOSTER PARENT TRAINING IN ALBUQUERQUE

Any parenting can be a tremendous challenge, including foster parenting.

In fact, foster parenting brings additional challenges, as your child’s biological parents or previous caregivers may have experienced personal or family challenges that prevented them from meeting your child’s attachment, physical and emotional needs.

The good news about such problems, however, is that they can be repaired. New connections can be made. Disruptions can be repaired. The ability to trust and love can be taught.

Foster parents, when referred to our agency, will be invited to our parent training sessions, in which the basics of everything you need to know will be taught.

WHAT THE CLASSES INCLUDE

Attachment Healing Center’s training for all types of parents is a multi-week series of classes that covers:

  • basic neuroscience,
  • emotional regulation,
  • the connection between parent and child,
  • left vs. right brain communication,
  • cycles of trust,
  • what to expect from parenting a foster child, adoptive child or relative child,
  • and the importance of self-care.

No child is a lost cause, but foster care can be difficult. We want to make it less difficult.

If you want training to assist you in being a foster parent, and live in or near Albuquerque, contact us at the Attachment Healing Center today. These trainings are scheduled many times a year, so call and get put on the list for an upcoming training today.
